GINGER OR KION

The species Zingiber officinale commonly known as «ginger» or «Kion» is native to Southeast Asia. It was brought to Peru at the end of the 18th century and is cultivated in the Central Rainforest of Peru where the climatic conditions are ideal. It is used as a traditional medicine by virtue of its components, gingerol and shogaol, which confer antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiemetic and anticancer properties, among others.
